Hindawi Ltd retained Osmanthus Consutling on a full-time basis for nine months to conduct a thorough China market landscape and risk analysis. This was used to make the case for Hindawi's expansion into the China market. After this was approved by senior management, Osmanthus then supported Hindawi is establishing a commercial presence in China, including development of a marketing plan, establishing a Wholly-Owned Foreign Enterprise, staff hiring and developing relationships with potential partners and key opinion leaders. Hindawi's China activity was cited as a key reason for its acquisition by Wiley in early 2021.
Osmanthus has developed strategies to support multiple STM publisher clients in the expansion of their commercial and editorial operations in China. Deliverables included market and risk analyses, comprehensive expansion strategies including staffing guidance, budgeting and scenario planning and board presentations. In all cases the China plans received board approval and are currently being implemented.
